The Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh with Electoral Commissioners; Edmond Sylvester Alpha, Marian Sia Nyuma-Moijueh and Senior Staff of the Commission had a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Rakesh Kumar Arora at his office in Freetown on the 28th September 2021.

It is a continued collaboration that has existed between the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the government and people of the Republic of India.

Quite recently the Commission has benefited from virtual training organized by the Indian High Commission’s office in Freetown.

The Indian Electoral Commission is currently assessing gap analysis in the National Electoral Commission’s (NEC) Data Management and Voters Roll and the Information communication Technology (ICT).

The visitation by the Commissioners was to formally acknowledge the support from the India High Commission’s office and to formally present the NEC Strategy Plan (2020-2024) and to further request for their assistance and support.

The two leaders also engaged in fruitful discussions, centre on strengthening of bilateral relations between the NEC in Sierra Leone, the Indian High Commission and by extension, the Electoral Commission of India through technical cooperation in the areas of ICT, Data Management, Capacity Building and experience sharing in the management of elections.
