The Southern Regional Commissioner National Electoral Commission Edmond Sylvester Alpha has assured the people of Futa Town Pejeh Chiefdom in Pujehun District, that the bye-election the National Electoral Commission (NEC) is set to conduct in ward 350 constituency 099 will be free and fair.
He made the statement when addressing stakeholders present in a meeting held in Futa Pejeh Chiefdom, Pujehun district to cement peace in the chiefdom.
Edmond Sylvester Alpha further intimated that the elections are not a-do –or= die game but a popularity contest and a platform for citizens to choose a leader whom they believe will serve in their interest.
He therefore implored the public to have confidence in them when it comes to the issue of conducting elections as it is their constitutional mandate to conduct free, fair and credible elections.
Fatmata I.P Jalloh is the Pujehun District electoral officer, she stated that, the ward is a single chiefdom ward which consists of six centres with thirteen (13) sections and they are working hard to see that they conduct the election in a peaceful atmosphere.
