The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has in a press release issued a stern warning to the general public of Sierra Leoneans who present fake identity documents i.e (Birth Certificates, NCRA Citizenship and Registration Certificates) that are among other credentials required by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leoneans to register as voters.
The press release further states that attempts of such to manipulate personal identification records covering all age brackets will be tracked, that such Act is a criminal offence to give false or misleading information for Registration Pursuant to Section 65 (3) of the NCRA Act 2016.
Accordingly the press states that it has engaged the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) on these attempts and is committed to fully support the ECSL with the verification of identity certificates originating from the Authority.
Conclusively, the press statement assures the public of its commitment in the verification process for Voter Registration or Identity Management System holding records on citizens and other residents, following which the Electoral Commission or any institution seeking such verification, will email duly informed about the outcome of every verification for appropriate action.
