The National Supporters’ Union of Sierra Leone on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, held a meeting with the Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai.
The purpose of the engagement was to solicit the Authority’s financial support for Leone Stars’ upcoming FIFA 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Ethiopia, scheduled to take place in Monrovia, Liberia.
In his address to the union members, Dr. Abdulai emphasized that the Supporters’ Union should function as an auxiliary body to the national team, particularly in mobilizing financial support, as is the practice in many countries around the world.
The NSA used the occasion to offer recommendations to the Union on effective strategies for resource mobilization. Among the proposals, Dr. Abdulai encouraged the Union to take the lead in the marketing and sales of Leone Stars’ match tickets on a percentage basis and to design affordable supporters’ packages to enhance fan participation.
