The National Sports Authority (NSA) on Wednesday presented cash prizes to the first, second and third place winners of the inaugural Inter-MDA Football Gala which ended on Sunday at the Stadium Practising Field.

Office of the Vice President bagged one hundred thousand Leones as runners-up Finance Ministry took home seventy thousand Leones while third place winners NPRA received fifty thousand Leones.

At NSA’s office on Signal Road, Deputy Executive Director of NSA Dr. Abdul Rahman Swaray said the presentation pointed to their talk-and-do formula and that next year’s edition will be grand. “This is a test,” he said.

NSA Board Chairman Ibrahim Nyelenkeh described the day as history-making, thanking the Executive Director of NSA Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai for the uncommon initiative. “NSA is the only institution that makes Sierra Leoneans happy. With the help of the Board, the Authority is going to deliver,” he told the gathering.

Speaking, Dr. Abdulai said the presentation represented a show of  transparency. “One of the things the Board has directed me to do is to make progress every day, and the Inter-MDA Gala is a manifestation of what we can do, ” he said, thanking President Bio for helping them do their job.

He went on to speak about the ongoing Kailahun Artificial Turf Project and the Mattru Jong’s and Tihun’s equivalents. He said all three are off government budget.

Speaking on behalf of the winners, Osmsn Banya, Assistant to the Secretary to the Vice President said they are grateful for the award, thanking Dr. Saffa Abdulai for the brilliant initiative.
