The National Revenue Authority (NRA) tax education team, led by Commissioner General Jeneba J. Bangura, joined the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE) in Moyamba to provide tax education to hundreds of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, market women and traders, students, and workers. This event was part of MoICE’s Provincial Civic Day Series held on May 26, 2025.

The NRA’s engagement focused on the theme, “The Relevance of Paying Taxes for National Development.” The gathering offered a valuable platform for the NRA to connect directly with taxpayers and highlight the importance of tax compliance and civic responsibility.

In her address, Commissioner General Bangura emphasized the crucial role taxes play in national development and the benefits of an informed taxpayer base.

“It is a civic responsibility to pay taxes, and when we pay taxes, the government uses the money to bring development to our communities,” she stated.

The day included interactive discussions and informational booths designed to educate participants about their tax obligations and recent reforms implemented by the NRA. Leveraging the festive atmosphere of Civic Day, the NRA effectively promoted taxpayer education, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and a clear understanding of citizens’ contributions to national growth.
