In what many are calling a powerful political comeback, the National Grand Coalition (NGC) has officially unveiled its new national headquarters on Wilkinson Road in Freetown. The opening ceremony, held on Sunday, drew an energized crowd of party supporters and well-wishers signalling the party’s renewed presence on the political stage and its preparedness for the 2028 general elections.

The move from Naimbana Street to Wilkinson Road marks more than just a change of address; it represents a strategic rebranding effort aimed at increasing accessibility, enhancing visibility, and revitalizing party momentum.

NGC Chairman and Leader, Mr. Mohamed Koroma, described the occasion as a pivotal moment for the party. “With a new, refreshing, and conducive environment now housing our headquarters, the NGC is back and poised to continue our mission of liberating the people of Sierra Leone,” he stated during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

National Secretary General, Mr. Amadu Sheriff, also addressed the gathering, encouraging members to embrace the new facility as their political home. “This is your office,” he said. “Feel free to always come here and feel at home.”

Long-time party loyalists who attended the event expressed optimism about the party’s future. Tent Jabbie, a veteran supporter, remarked, “People thought the NGC was gone, but today shows we are very much alive. Under Mr. Koroma’s leadership, the NGC is here to stay and ready to make waves in 2028.”

Ahead of the opening, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) convened to adopt several key resolutions aimed at strengthening internal structures. These include: Filling vacant executive positions in various districts, dissolving the NGC UK and North America executive bodies, with interim leadership to be installed, launching nationwide lower-level elections to boost grassroots participation and prepare for the 2028 polls.

The event marks a new chapter in the NGC’s journey as it seeks to re-establish itself as a credible alternative in Sierra Leone’s political landscape.

With a new headquarters, reinvigorated leadership, and a clear strategy for growth, the NGC has sent a strong message: it is ready to rise again and contend for national leadership.

As Sierra Leone approaches the next election cycle, political analysts and citizens alike will be watching closely to see how this renewed energy translates into electoral success. For now, the NGC’s message is clear: the journey continues and they are far from finished.
