The newly appointed national coordinator free quality school  education in the ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Lans Keifala has said that, the increment of candidates  number by school authorities is one of the major  factors affecting the free quality school education in the country.

He made the statement during a three day capacity building training for school feeding monitors and regional coordinators in Bo to orientate them on the expectations of the school feeding project during their monitoring exercise.

He further told A-Z that, the inflation of candidate numbers in the external examination across the country by school authorities is seriously posing huge challenge to the government because there are more people coming to take the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) who are not supposed to take the exams.

He added that, because of the continuous inflation in candidates number by school authorities, last academic year they had about two –hundred thousand candidates who wrote to the west African Senior Secondary Certificate “In the Past academy years, we have always reacted by going out to schools after entries, but this time we will not allow the entries to happen in our absent. We will try very hard to stop people from getting those lists”, he stressed.

The national coordinator free quality school education in the ministry of Basic and senior secondary education further stated that plans were underway to stop heads of schools and principals who normally increase the number of pupils to get more subsidies.

The performance base finance is normally disturbed to schools across the country by the government, but what are they doing with those monies coming directly from the government or partners? Henceforth, we are going to ensure those monies are used for the actual purposes Lans Keifela concluded.
