NASSIT Drags Former Lands Minister To Court

National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) on Saturday 1st April 2023, dragged Musa Tarawally former Minister of Lands and his establishment, TEES Shopping Center for failure to comply with NASSIT rule.

Both defendants TEES Shopping Center and Musa Tarawally appear before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker on one count of failure to comply with the provisions of National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Act No. 5 of 2001, and the Regulations of 2004 made thereunder Contrary to Section 32 (1) (e) of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No. 5of 2001.

Particulars of offence, TEES Shopping Center Limited, Musa Tarawally being an establishment and employer respectively under the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No. 5 of 2001, on the 8 December 2022, at No. 100B Wilkinson Road, Freetown, without reasonable excuse, did fail to comply with the provisions of the aforementioned Act, to wit Non-Submission of Documents for inspection.

Both defendants are represented by two lawyers, and NASSIT lawyer UDF Sesay Esq who applied that the establishment of the former Lands Minister must be inspected.

Magistrate Tucker then ordered officials of NASSIT to go and inspect the establishment of the former Lands Minister Musa Tarawally, if he failed or did not allow the inspection then the court will take appropriate action against him and his establishment.

The matter was adjourned to the 16th of April 2023.
