NaCSA, KNSCC LAUNCH GBENSE FISH MARKET REHABILITATION PROJECTS IN KOIDU CITY

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has in collaboration with the Koidu New Sembehun City Council formally launched the Gbense Fish Market rehabilitation project at a ceremony held at the Sierra Leone Traders Union Kono office in the municipality of Koidu.

According to the NaCSA Community Driven development programme Manager, Patrick  Lebbie the project came  awake the cry of the Market women through the  first lady Madam Fatima Bio Jabbie which  prompted  the Central Government to contract NaCSA  for the rehabilitation of the aforesaid  facility at the Gbense Market  within the City of Koidu. Lebbie said, NaCSA has already awarded the project  to a senior  contractor  who is  now awaiting  the Market women to temporarily  move  from the fish market for the commencement  of the work.

The drainage system within the Gbense Market the NaCSA Community driven Development programme Manager, Patrick Lebbie said, is the most challenging part of the short term three billion Leones rehabilitation project. He therefore called on the Council and traders to render their support towards the successful implementation of the project.

 Dilating on the importance of the Gbense Market in Koidu City, the Mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council, His Worship  Komba Sam said, the importance  of the newly  launched  fish market rehabilitation project cannot be over emphasised  as it will in no  doubt add values to the  Koidu main market of Gbense  and the Municipality upon completion.

Mayor Sam further assured the fish market women of his stringent supervision role to ensure that other traders are not allowed to occupy their various locations as they move in order to give the contractor chance to do the rehabilitation work.

On his part, the interim  Chairman of the Sierra Leone Traders  Union (SLTU) Kono Branch, Osman Fofanah on behalf of the traders  expressed  thanks and appreciation to all and sundry, particularly  the Central Government  through  the first Lady and the  Mayor of Koidu City for their lobby power to secure  support to undertake  the rehabilitation project. He therefore pledged their total commitment towards the smooth implementation of the project.
