MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF LOCAL COURT CHAIRMEN THREATHENS COURT PROCEEDINGS IN KONO

The chairman of the Kamara Chiefdom Local Court No. (1) in Tombodu Town, Kamara Chiefdom, Kono District have told A-Z Newspaper that, the mysterious death of his colleague chairmen cannot be unconnected with Witch Craft activities that some complainants or defendants use to kill court chairmen from different Local Courts in the District and the country as a whole..

Chairman Stephen Ganda made the statement in an exclusive interview at his chambers when asked to explain his challenges at the local court number one at the Kamara Chiefdom Administrative Barray in Tomodu town, Kono Dsitrict.

Chairman Ganda disclosed that, they are doing a sacrificial job for the people but added that they are receiving bad rewards instead of good rewards.

He noted that they are also not receiving much salaries from the government but they are still working for the people in order to represent the central government for the sake of peace and justice at the local level.

“But every now and then, our colleague chairmen are dying”, citing example of the recent death of his colleague chairman Tamba Demba Morsay at the Gbense Chiefdom Court Number Two in Koidu city Gbense Chiefdom, Kono District.

He maintained that, even though they are representing the central government at the different local courts, the central government is not paying much attention to them  in terms of payment of salaries for chairmen and their workers, lack of mobility, sitting accommodation, lack of office furniture among others are all challenges they are faced with he noted.
