The media Reform coordinating group (MRCG) has trained at least thirty (30) journalists on how to report on transitional justice issues.

The training which took place in Bo City was supported by the African Traditional Justice legacy Foundation (ATJL) based in Ghana.

In an interview, the head of Programs Media Reform Coordinating Group Osman Bah noted that the objective of the training is to change the narrative of transitional justice issues in Sierra Leone.

Mr Bah intimated our correspondent that one of the aims of their project is to train at least one hundred journalists across the country on transitional justice issues. The head of the programs media reform coordinating group expressed optimism that at the end of the trainings across the country journalists trained will have the capacity to present radio programs to report on transitional justice issues in their respective communities across the country.

Meanwhile it could be recalled that the truth and reconciliation commission report reveals that one of the main issues responsible for the rampant killing of people and the burning of houses during the ten years civil war in the country was as a result of land dispute between and among people.

Owing to such backdrop, the training is to capacitate young journalists who did not witness the said civil war so that they can be train professionally in reporting such issues when the need arises. Osman Bah admonished the participants of the said training to be careful when reporting on issues adding that they should not only report on Issues but to make necessary fellow up on issues they have reported  on.
