Honorable Members of the Committee on Technical and Higher Education has on Wednesday the 16th of February 2022, lauded the tremendous effort of Imatt College in promoting President Bio’s Human Capital; Development programme through the provision of quality bilingual tertiary education in Sierra Leone over the years.
The commendation was made in light of the ongoing hearings of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Technical and Higher Education on the investigations of colleges operating in the country.
The Parliamentary oversight on Imatt College is aligned to a two-week hearings investigation relative to the updated registration of the educational institutions with the Ministry of Higher Education, NCTVA and that of Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).
The Board Chairman of IMATT College Amadu justice Bah updated MPs on the operational activities of the college and pinpointed the successes of the college toward the development of Sierra Leone. He said every year the college accommodates over 300 hundred students and offer courses like cyber security, law, and business management, Human Resource Management, Information and Communications Technology among others.
Amadu Justice Bah also disclosed that many State Actors successfully went through the law education at IMATT College. He added that the college also caters for bilingual educational system wherein, students from Guinea will come to Sierra Leone to learn English, and also Sierra Leonean Students will travel to Guinea in order to learn French.
“Our mission is to support President Bio’s vision in promoting the Human Capital Development in Sierra Leone. We have produced lawyers at IMATT College including former ADC to the former president”, he disclosed.
Hon. Muniru Lanssana praised the IMATT College for doing a wonderful transformation in the education sector of the country through the introduction of relevant courses that meet the demands of society. He also commended the positive strives taken so far by the IMATT College in helping and educating Sierra Leoneans.
Hon. Mack Mamuadu Kalokoh praised the college for doing a marvelous job in the promotion of the education sector. He added that the college is indeed doing an excellent job towards the president’s flagship programme.
Hon.Dr. Roland Kargbo confessed that the committee appreciated all the efforts of the colleges in the promotion of education in the country. He equally hoped that all education institutions complied with the laws of the country.
The Committee in its hearings concentrated its investigation on the certificate of registration, compliance in finance auditing, successes, challenges, the standard of learning, annual registration, profile of academic staff, and other related matters.
Many of these private institutions pleaded with the committee on higher education for government support, highlighting their positive contributions to the human capital development of the country.
