Motorbike Rider Remanded For Theft

An Okada rider (motorbike) Ibrahim Sampha Kamara who was arrested by police officers appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 in Freetown for allegedly stealing ATVS motorbike worth thousands of Leones.

The accused is arraigned before the court a count of fraudulent conversion contrary to law.

It was alleged that the accused, on Saturday 15th July 2023 fraudulently converted one TVS motorbike with registration number AVH 864 valued at NLe15, 000 belonging to the complainant.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, Osman M. Bangura, prosecution witness (PW) 2, Lamin Suliaman Kamara residing at Mount Aureole in Freetown said he recognized as the accused as his neighbors and could recall Saturday 15th July 2023.

PW2 continued that on that fateful day he handed over his bike to the accused person with the aforementioned registration number on commercial purposes.

He said having handed over the bike to him, he, the accused assured him that he would be riding the bike from between Patten Street and Black Hall Road axis.

By 9pm, Kamara said he got a call from one Umara informing him that he wanted to see him urgently.

He said upon receipt of the information, he left for the crime scene at Savage Square New Road, disclosing that upon his arrival, he saw the accused screaming saying that someone have stolen the bike in question.

Being that the said motorbike life was not available in court, ASP Bangura sought for a short adjournment date assuring the court that he will make copies of the motorbike document available in court on the next adjourned date, which was granted.

The accused is still on bail and the matter was adjourned to 16th August 2023 for further hearing.
