Motorbike Rider in Court on Alleged Robbery Charges

Twenty-five-year-old motorbike rider Lamin Bala Kargbo made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, facing three charges: robbery with aggravation, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charges are as follows Robbery with Aggravation Contrary to section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No. 16 of 1971. Wounding Contrary to section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm Contrary to section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 15th August 2025, at Palmer Drive, off Wilkinson Road in the Western Area of Freetown, Kargbo, armed with a knife, allegedly robbed Lamin Kargbo of a blue HLX 125 TVS motorbike with registration number AYI 025, valued at twenty-seven thousand five hundred Leones (Le 27,500). During or immediately after the robbery, Kargbo is accused of using personal violence against the complainant.

The second count states that, on the same date and location, the defendant maliciously wounded Lamin Kargbo.

The third count alleges that, on the same date and at the same location, the defendant assaulted the complainant, causing actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.

Prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh requested a short adjournment to present his first witness.

Magistrate Fornah denied bail and remanded the defendant to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 2nd October 2025.
