According to the particulars of the offense, on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, at No.31c Consider Lane, Calaba Town in the Western Area of Freetown, with the intent to steal, he broke and entered into the dwelling house of Jenneh Massaquoi.
He stole therein one panel door valued at two thousand five hundred Leones, one lock valued at ninety Leones, and physical cash of six hundred Leones, all totaling three thousand one hundred and ninety Leones (3,190), the property of Jenneh Massaquoi.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty. The complainant, Jenneh Massaquoi, a businesswoman, told the court that the accused person is her son. According to her, on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, around 2:00 pm, she received information from her daughter Yatta that she tried to open the door but couldn’t because the accused had placed something inside the lock. She was afraid to confront him. Upon receiving this information, she came home and saw the sealing board damaged, her money missing, and the door gone. Since then, the accused person was on the run. The witness said the accused person was apprehended by the community youth.
The complainant informed the bench that she is not proceeding with the matter. Magistrate Kekura acquitted and discharged the accused person pursuant to section 94 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
