As part of efforts to strengthen community policing, the newly transferred Local Unit Commander of Motema Police Division, Chief Superintendent Alimamy G. Sesay, has begun a series of school visitations to award certificates and prizes to schools that participated in the 2025 Motema Division End-of-Year Quiz and Debate Competitions.

The initiative officially commenced on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at Sewafeh Secondary School and Alharrkan Secondary School. These visitations are part of the police division’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with educational institutions, promote community policing, encourage information sharing between the police and schools, and foster academic excellence among pupils.

The awards followed the end-of-year celebration organized by the division on 22–23 January 2025, which brought together several secondary schools to compete in quiz and debate contests. Sewafeh Secondary School emerged as the best debating school and secured second place in the quiz competition.

In individual categories, Esther Conteh was crowned Best Debater.

Ishmael Osman Conteh was named Second Best Debater.

Alhaji S. Conteh earned the title of Best Quizer, further bringing honour to Sewafeh Secondary School.

Alharrkan Secondary School was presented with a certificate of participation.

During school assemblies, LUC CSP Sesay, who served as the keynote speaker, explained the importance of the initiative. He highlighted that the competitions were designed to promote critical thinking, encourage research among pupils, and strengthen the relationship between the police and the community, particularly schools.

CSP Sesay congratulated the individual awardees for their outstanding performances and encouraged all schools and pupils to prepare diligently for the next edition of the competition scheduled for December 2026. He also expressed appreciation to the participating schools, teachers, and pupils for their active involvement and commitment throughout the competitions.

Other speakers, including Alimamy Kanu, George Ensa, and principals from the participating schools, commended the Motema Police Division for initiating such a laudable programme, describing it as a positive step toward motivating pupils and promoting healthy academic competition in the district.

In his closing remarks, the Media and Community Relations Officer of the Motema Division, Thompson Peter Ndapi, expressed appreciation to the outgoing Local Unit Commander, CSP Mohamed Turay, the incoming LUC, CSP Alimamy G. Sesay, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the programme.
