In partnership with Sekoun Sidime Charity organization based in Guinea, the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation has on Friday the 12th of November 2021, handed over   200 boxes and 13 bags of wound care medical supplies worth $30,000 to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) as support to the Willington Fire Victims.

In his handing over statement, a representative of Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation Martin Bamin, disclosed that the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation has been in operation in Sierra Leone for over 3 years.  He said  over 2,500 people have benefited from their  projects in economic empowerment of women, support of  Free Quality Education in providing school materials to over 1,000 students and providing solar electricity to a rural village. He added that their organization was the only NGO to visit the disaster site over 3 days to help clean up and comfort those affected.

“We are here today with a heavy heart as we remember those that perished in the November 5th PMB tanker explosion fire. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy. Currently, we are working on projects to assist widows in 5 slum communities in Freetown by training and empowering these women to start a business”, he said.

Martin Bamin continued that the $30,000 worth of medical equipment is a goodwill donation through a partnership with   Sekoun Sidime Charity and the Jamil and Nyanga Jaward Foundation.

In addition, he disclosed that the donation was planned over a month ago specifically to donate to underserved and rural community hospitals. He noted that due to the urgent needs of the burnt victims, they thought it fit to donate the items to the government to support the various hospitals. He also encouraged the government to share 25% of the donated items to the rural and underserved community hospitals.

Martin Bamin concluded by thanking the NDMA for support in the duty-free waiver for the items and the SL Embassy in Guinea for supporting the movement of the items through Guinea to the Sierra Leone border. He also acknowledged   Ambassador Ibrahim Koroma, the Ambassador to Senegal, for his immense support in facilitating access to the various Ministries, Agencies, and Sierra Leone embassy in Guinea.
