Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Barlay, has been honored with the prestigious Climate Policy & Development Award for her exceptional leadership in integrating climate resilience into Sierra Leone’s national development planning, particularly under the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP).

Minister Barlay received the award at the 9th Environmental Care & National Climate Awards, held to recognize outstanding contributions to environmental conservation and climate action.

During the ceremony, Minister Barlay also presented awards to other distinguished recipients, reaffirming the government’s commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development. Her recognition is a testament to Sierra Leone’s ongoing efforts to integrate climate action into its development framework.

The MTNDP places a strong emphasis on climate resilience, and Minister Barlay’s leadership has been crucial in advancing this agenda. Her award highlights the importance of embedding climate action within national planning to ensure long-term sustainability.
