The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially nominated Sierra Leone U20 captain, Momoh Ibrahim Kamara for the 2025 Young Player of the Year award an accolade reserved for the continent’s most outstanding emerging talent.
Kamara’s nomination crowns a remarkable year for the Shooting Stars talisman who led Sierra Leone to its first-ever qualification for the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt. His commanding performances throughout the tournament earned him the Top Goal Scorer award with four goals including a memorable hat-trick against the hosts. He was also named Player of the Group Stage.
Prior to the continental showpiece Kamara played a decisive role in the WAFU Zone A U20 qualifiers held in Liberia in 2024 where his leadership and attacking intelligence guided Sierra Leone to qualification. He finished the subconfederational tournament as joint top scorer and was deservedly recognized as the Best Player of the competition.
