The reigning champions of the country’s female top-tier league, Mogbwemo Queens Football Club, have kicked off preparation for the upcoming league season.

A host of key players have returned to the camp in Mogbwemo after the three-month recess, following the club’s participation in the 2023 CAF Champions League WAFU Zonal qualifiers, hosted in August, at the SKD Complex in Liberia.

It is worth noting that the management of Mogbwemo Queens FC bolstered the squad that won the maiden 2022/23 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League before the club participated in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zonal qualifiers, including the addition of sensational goalkeeper Mawa Traoré who has returned to the camp after she represented Guinea in the World Cup and Olympic qualifiers.

While the determination is very high to achieve the goal of retaining the league title, the team is currently in intensive training and awaiting the announcement of the date for the commencement of the new season by the Sierra Leone Football Association.

The defending Champions are looking to retain their title back when the Female Premier League kick-Off in the Country.
