The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation announced a significant new funding initiative aimed at boosting digital skills among young Sierra Leoneans.
The government, in collaboration with various partners, has launched the Skills for Youth Employment Fund, designed to support training institutions across the country.
This initiative comes at a crucial time as the demand for digital competencies continues to grow in the global job market. The fund will provide much-needed financial support for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, enabling them to enhance their curricula and equip students with essential digital skills.
The launch event highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering youth and addressing unemployment through targeted educational programs. The Skills for Youth Employment Fund aims to strengthen digital upskilling initiatives, ensure that training programs are responsive to job market needs, and provide instructors with the necessary resources to deliver high-quality ICT training.
An informational session will be held on April 17, 2025, to guide interested institutions on how to apply for funding.
This session is crucial for ensuring that training providers understand the eligibility criteria and application process. Institutions can register for the session at [tinyurl.com/bdf54ns3](http://tinyurl.com/bdf54ns3).
Applications for the fund are open until April 28, 2025, and institutions are encouraged to apply promptly to secure their funding.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in equipping the next generation of Sierra Leoneans with the skills necessary for success in an increasingly digital world, ultimately aiming to reduce unemployment and foster economic growth in the region.
