Alimamy Kargbo a mobile phone technician was on Monday sent to prison by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of court No1 for being found in possession of one black HELLAI pistol without licensed.
The accused made his first appearance in court and was arraigned on four counts charges ranging from Possession of Arms without license contrary to section 11(1) of the arms and ammunition act No 9of 2012, Having in custody of small arms without license, Unlawful concealment of arms contrary to regulation 22 of the arms and ammunitions regulations 2014 statutory instrument No 8 of 2014 and Keeping greater number of small arms without license all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the indictments on count one, the accused on Sunday 1st October 2023, at the Waterloo Kono Park Waterloo in the western rural district was found in possession of one black HELLAI pistol with serial number BB 205218(9×19) spring held armory without license or lawful authority.
The police further alleged on count two that the accused in the same date and place was found having in custody one black HELLAI pistol with serial number BB 205218 (9×19) spring held armory without license or lawful authority.
It was further alleged on counts three that the accused on the same date unlawfully concealed the said pistol without license.
Whiles counts four added that the accused on the same date was found keeping one black HELLAI pistol with magazine containing eight live rounds cartridges without license or lawful authority.
Accused pleaded guilty when the charges were read to him.
The prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Lahai M Farma informed the court that there is an exhibit and therefore will send a subpoena to the exhibit clerk for him to come and tender the said exhibit in court.
In the circumstance, he requested for an adjournment to do so.
Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and remanded the accused in prison and the matter was adjourned to the 23rd October 2023.
