The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through their District offices across the country has reduced the number of Chiefdom police personnel.
The exercise took place at the District office in Kambia over the weekend where in 30 Chiefdom police personnel have been selected by the Chiefdom authorities to represent the district.
Speaking at the ceremony over the weekend the District officer for Kambia district Foday Yusif Kamara said the selection of the 30 Chiefdom police personnel was done by the various Paramount chiefs due to the series of complains they have reported against few personnel who were not executing their roles and responsibilities.
He further explained that out of the 60 Chiefdom police personnel in Kambia district, only 30 Chiefdom police personnel have been recruited to serve the entire district.
Four Chiefdom police personnel for class A Chiefdom, Three Chiefdom police personnel for class B Chiefdom and Two Chiefdom police personnel for class C Chiefdom across the country.
District officer Kambia district Foday Yusif Kamara said the ministry is expecting all selected Chiefdom police in Kambia district to continue to serve their Paramount chiefs and their respective Constituents in terms of securing lives and property and also helping Paramount chiefs on revenue mobilization in their respective Chiefdoms.
The District officer ended up by informing Chiefdom police and administrators present that the newly recruited Chiefdom police personnel will surely start to receive their monthly payment as designed by the ministry of Local Government through the ministry of Finance.
He also encouraged all those that are not recruited to exercise patience as any other opportunity comes they will stand to benefit.
