The Ministry of Health, with support from the German Embassy in Sierra Leone and in collaboration with GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), received state-of-the-art medical equipment at the Ola During Children’s Hospital (ODCH) on Friday, November 1, 2023.
.This initiative aims to significantly improve the healthcare quality for children in the region.
The donation includes advanced electronic radiology and oxygen machines, crucial for diagnosing and treating paediatric patients. This modern equipment is expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver high-quality medical care and address the urgent needs of young patients suffering from various health conditions.
Ambassador of Germany to Sierra Leone, alongside GIZ and the Ministry of Health representatives, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in health sector improvements. “This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s healthcare system, especially in paediatric care,” emphasizing the need for advanced medical technologies to save lives.
The initiative stems from recognizing the challenges faced by healthcare facilities in Sierra Leone, particularly in the wake of recent public health crises. By providing these high-end medical tools, the German Embassy and its partners aim to bolster the country’s healthcare infrastructure and ensure that children receive timely and effective treatment.
The unveiling ceremony, attended by healthcare professionals and government officials, marks a significant step forward in enhancing paediatric healthcare in Sierra Leone.
