In a significant move to promote fairness, transparency, and digitalization in the public health sector, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has officially launched an online recruitment portal to hire 3,000 health workers nationwide. The portal became accessible to the public on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, following its announcement during a press conference held on Monday, 8th September 2025, at the Youyi Building in Freetown.
Dr. Jalikatu Mustapha, Deputy Minister II of Health, highlighted that this is the first time the Ministry has introduced a fully digital recruitment system. She explained that the initiative led by the Health Minister himself, targets a diverse group of medical professionals, including nurses, midwives, community health officers, laboratory technicians, pharmaceutical staff, and others.
Dr. Mustapha emphasized that the entire recruitment process, from application to shortlisting, will be conducted online via the official MoH-SL recruitment portal. She described the system as a significant step toward modernizing public sector hiring and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
“Today, we are not just filling vacancies; we are fortifying the very backbone of our national healthcare system,” she said.
The Deputy Minister further stated that the platform is free, fair, and open to all qualified Sierra Leoneans, both within the country and abroad, who are eager to contribute to national development in the health sector.

“We will no longer have human involvement in the recruitment system,” he affirmed.
Sorie disclosed that after conducting a rigorous stress test, the system successfully handled over a thousand applications. He added that the portal is a homegrown platform developed with technical support from the Ministry’s Human Resources Directorate.
He noted that this initiative is a vital step in rebuilding public trust in the healthcare system and in fulfilling the government’s Health Sector Recovery Plan.
Capri Lonko Koroma, Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Ministry of Health, provided further details on the platform’s operations. He confirmed the government’s commitment to a smooth, credible, and transparent recruitment process.
Applicants must meet strict eligibility requirements, including National Identification Number, Valid certifications, Registration with relevant professional bodies to name but few.

www.recruitment.mohs.gov.sl or http://www.recruitment.mohs.gov.sl
He added that the platform includes both an administrative backend and a user-facing application portal, enabling efficient data collection and applicant tracking.
