The Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education has plans to punish Principals who have been very much lackadaisical in the activities of the Council of Principals of Secondary Schools in Kono by deliberately refusing to be part of the Council in the district.
This is according to the Deputy Director of Education in Kono district Alimamy Kamara. He made the pronouncement when making a statement during a day seminar organised by the aforesaid Council for registered members, who have completed payment for their 2021 CPSS dues and contributions.
The said seminar which was held at the Konomusu Multi- Purpose hall in Koidu City, was organised on the theme “ Effective and Efficient School records management Maketh a good Principal”.
Giving an overview of the seminar , the Councils of Principals of Secondary Schools, Kono Secretary general, Dominic Sossa who doubles as principal Gbense High school in the Municipality of Koidu said the CPSS Kono executive was prompted to organise the seminar following a nationwide recruitment process of Principals and Vic Principals the Ministry of Basic and Secondary school Education embarked on, towards the closure of the last academic year.
Most of the newly recruited principals and Vice Principals the CPSS Kono Secretary general, Mr. Sossa said, are new in the system with very little knowledge based on school administration and roles and responsibilities as principals.
Dominic Sossa expressed his fervent believe that, the one day seminar will benefit all of them, not only the new Principals, but also the old ones. As it would in no doubt help develop the knowledge base of the recently recruited Principals in some of the administrative issues that could enable them function well in the performance of their duties as principals and Vice Principals.
Principals present were schooled on budgetary system in school administration, school records management and good principal.
