The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is currently on a four-day retreat at the Wizard conference Hall at Dambala road, Bo City from the 30th November to the 3rd December 2022.

The focus of this family gathering is to evaluate our achievement over the recent years, critically examine our challenges and identify our priorities for 2023.

This retreat brought together Ministers, members of Parliament and other players in the agriculture sector.

In his keynote address, the Minister of agriculture, Ambassador, Dr. Abubakarr Karim, highlighted the several gains made by his ministry including mechanization, irrigation and the policy shifts that has brought to action a public private partnership that has gingered increased food production and value addition. The Minister however entreated his Ministry’s personnel to pursue effective communication, collaboration and coordination in sustaining our achievements and break more grounds in the coming years.

Dr. Karim stated that his determination for effective agricultural transformation will only be meaningful when it is felt in the stomach, pockets and wallets of all Sierra Leoneans.

Similar statements were made by the Minister of Local Government and Rual Development, Ambassador Tamba Lamina, the Deputy Minister of Youth, Lusine Kallon and a member of the parliamentary committee on agriculture.

Today is the second day of the retreat, chaired by the Senior Permanent Secretary of Agriculture. Andrew L. Sorie. Technical presentations by Divisional Directors and Project Coordinators are an integral part of the retreat.

The Agriculture minister is being fully supported by his deputy minister 1 Dr. Teresa Teneh Dick and the deputy minister 2 Sahr Hemoe.
