In a significant step towards advancing youth development in Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MOYA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to expand opportunities for young people across the country.

This strategic partnership aims to accelerate skills development, promote entrepreneurship, and create pathways to sustainable and decent employment. Additionally, the MoU emphasizes youth leadership, civic engagement, and inclusive participation in the nation’s development.

At the signing ceremony, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to placing young people at the center of national transformation. He highlighted that the agreement with UNDP is not just a policy framework, but also a call to action.

“This partnership aligns with the Ministry’s vision to ensure that no young person is left behind. By investing in skills development, innovation, and entrepreneurship, we are securing not only the future of our youth but also the future of Sierra Leone,” Hon. Sannoh said.

The MoU emphasizes the shared understanding that young people are crucial to Sierra Leone’s progress. MOYA and UNDP have committed to strengthening existing empowerment initiatives, aligning them with global standards, and broadening their reach.

This initiative also supports the international commitments, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by fostering inclusive growth, reducing inequalities, and creating environments where young people can thrive.

Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Youth Affairs continues to lead in mobilizing partnerships and resources, ensuring that Sierra Leone’s youthful population is central to sustainable development and positive societal change.
