On June 14, 2025, the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James Teima, attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE). The meeting took place at the Country Lodge, Hill Station, Freetown, and brought together key stakeholders in the country’s sports sector, including athletes, sports officials, and representatives from various sporting federations.
In her address, Minister Teima reaffirmed the government’s ongoing financial commitment to the sustainable development of sports in Sierra Leone. She emphasized the pivotal role that sports play in promoting national unity, pride, and youth engagement, and underscored the government’s dedication to providing athletes with the resources and support they need to thrive.
The Minister also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the executive members of NOC/CGA-SLE for their steadfast dedication and contributions to the growth of Sierra Leonean sports. She acknowledged that their collective efforts have led to notable achievements by Sierra Leonean athletes on the international stage, helping to elevate the country’s global sporting reputation.
The AGM served as a platform to review progress and deliberate on strategic priorities, including upcoming international competitions, athlete development initiatives, and opportunities for increased collaboration between the government and sports bodies. Stakeholders engaged in meaningful discussions aimed at addressing current challenges and identifying innovative solutions to further strengthen the sporting landscape.
Minister Teima concluded her speech with a call to action, encouraging all participants to stay united in their commitment to uplifting Sierra Leone’s sports industry. She urged collective support for athletes who continue to represent the nation with pride and determination.
