The Minister of Sports Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, Sports Journalists, and other officials from the Government on 2nd June 2023 paid an Inspection visit at the Siakia Stevens Stadium.
According to the Chinese construction group the work is expected to be completed in May 2024.
The New Siakia Stevens Stadium will have a new practising field, a makeshift stand for persons with disability, an electronic scoreboard, 96 rooms hostel with ultra-modern facilities, Bucket Seat for Open Stands, and Four New Dressing rooms for national and International Matches.
The rehabilitation work is a forty-million-dollar project that is funded by the Chinese government and after completion is set to be handed over to the Government of Sierra Leone as it is part of the Chinese Aid help to the Sierra Leone Government.
The Senior National teams have the past two years playing their matches away from home and this has been affecting fans’ participation in Leone Stars matches.
