The Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh has called on FIFA scribe to quickly respond to the long awaited SLFA Elective Congress that has been put on hold for over 8 years in the Country.
The Minister of Sports said his Ministry is under immense pressure from the Football family to resolve the elective congress stalemate.
He made the passionate appeal during the official launching of the Kenema Artificial turf, as the event saw many high profile personalities from both home and abroad. At the said event FIFA Secretary General Fatouma Samurai was the guest honor.
He is quoted as saying that the country is lagging behind in terms of Sporting Infrastructure for which FIFA has to come in to address the problem and ensure that Sierra Leone leap frog in the sporting arena.
Ibrahim Nyelenkeh said it will be a disservice to the nation if serving as a moral guarantor; he fails to lead the way to SLFA Elective Congress. He however highlighted the process towards the Elective Congress as a thing that has been surrounded by accusations, counter accusations bordering on the issue of qualification and disqualification of potential candidates, abuse of the status, Integrity, credibility of Judicial Bodies, and the unnecessary or warrant of changing Election dates. All of these issues, he pointed have bred mistrust and suspicion among the football family.
The Minister of sports is therefore calling on FIFA scribes to swiftly intervene so that the issue of election will be definitively addressed.
