The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Francis Kai-Kai and the Minister of Lands Housing and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie today, paid a working visit to the Home Leone Destiny Village site in Mabrown Community at Newton.
The working visit was to assess the Home Leone initiative, which has been developed into a village with hundreds of low-cost homes, providing livelihood such as education and training, community infrastructure, supporting businesses for the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunities.
During the tour of the facility, the Ministers engaged the property developers on the design of the initiative and discuss possible ways to scale up, improve and implement the design of the project with Government’s intervention and support.
The first pilot project, which is the Destiny Village, built on a 25 acres of land has delivered 344 quality homes contributing to a vibrant, sustainable and healthy community. They have relocated 2,500 people from across Freetown’s 72 slum communities to new secured low-cost homes.
