Sierra Leone Minister of Energy and Power Alhaji Kanja Sesay has officially launched the West Africa Power Pool CLSG light project in Kono District. Whilst launching the said project he said the shortage of fuel is the main reason for the continuous electricity outage in the Municipality of Koidu. According to him, there are machines at the sub-stations in Koidu City to provide twenty-four hours electricity supply to the people on daily basis, but due to  the  electricity outage, the two institutions EGTC and EDSA are unable to generate the amount of revenue the government needs to improve the services provided by EGTC and EDSA in Kono District nothing the revenue which the government is  receiving from EGTC and EDSA is not commensurate to the money the government spends on fuel.

Meanwhile, the Minister of energy and Power, Alhaji Kanja Sesay has on behalf of the new direction government apologized to the people of Sierra Leone for not being able to provide twenty-four hours electricity supply for their four years stay in office due to the numerous challenges and processes that were involved in the quest to bring the twenty-four hours electricity in Sierra Leone.

“Although the fight was tuff, but I came to tell the people of Kono that the Bio administration has succeeded to change the ten hours electricity supply to twenty – four hours electricity supply”, Minister Sesay stated.

He further assured the people of Kono that, within three months’ time Kono will start enjoying uninterrupted twenty-four hours electricity supply from the cote-devoir, Liberia and Guinea (CLSG) 225 project in Sierra Leone.
