Vice Chancellor and Principal Milton Margai Technical University Dr. Phillip John Kanu appear before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Court No.2 Pademba road, Freetown, to testify against one of his lecturer Tejan Sheik Rogers (accused) who went on social media (Whatsapp) and sent audios against the complainant (Phillip John Kanu).

The accused Tejan Sheik Rogers is charged on a count of cyber stalking Contrary to Section to Section 44 (2) (b) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act 2001.

According to the charge sheet on count 1, the accused Tejan Sheik Rogers on dates unknown between 1st and 31st November 2022, Freetown, through social media via Whatsapp did use his Whatsapp number with title Tejan Rogers of MMTU created and posted, stalled and bullied recording audios and text messages by means of computer system network in a Whatsapp group call Maada Must Stay Campaign that may likely damaged his character.

Chief Superintendent of police Juan M S Bull lead Prosecution witness number one Philip John Kanu, the vice chancellor and principal of Milton Margai college of education and technology, he oversees the activities of the University and to provide leadership he also said that he is the chief Administrator at the said University.

He said, he recognized the accused person in the dock as his former staff at the said University, he recalled the period between the 1st to 30th November 2022 something transpired between himself and the accused person.

The witness said there was a problem of sexual harassment by certain lectures who were terminated by the University the witness said after the incident he started seen a right up and audios on social media, the witness said he recalled seeing someone in a WhatsApp group called Maada must stay campaign.

The witness said he is part and parcel of the said group which is not for the University as the write ups and audios were all over the social media attacking his personality and those of other authorities in the university as well as destroying the image of the University.

The witness said the accused use to say in the Audio that the witness knew that himself and the exams officers were falsifying grades.

The accused person said the witness took money from lecturers for computer classes, these averages continue every day, the witness said he made efforts to reach the accused person through his brother Amara Rogers for him to stop his brother.

The witness said the accused person and his brother visited him several times he used to ask the accused person what did he do to him the accused person always respond that he did nothing to him.

The accused person sent him message that he will not stop even if he involved his brother the witness said he decided to report the matter to the police the witness said he has the audios, copies of all the messages the accused person has posted.

At this juncture, the Prosecutor seeks for a short adjournment date.

The accused pleaded not guilty and he was granted bail.

Matter adjourned to the 6th February 2024
