The case involving Corporal Joseph Lamin Steven (18181456) has been adjourned for further proceedings at Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1, presided over by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah.
Corporal Steven is facing allegations of murder in connection with the shooting of his colleague, Military Officer Moses Brima Kabba, over a disputed $100. He is charged with one count of murder, contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).
According to the indictment, on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at the Presidential Lodge, Freetown International Airport, Lungi, within the Port Loko Judicial District, Corporal Steven allegedly shot and killed Moses Brima Kabba.
During the hearing, ASP Ibrahim Mansaray, the prosecutor, confirmed that all necessary documents had been served on the defendant to enable him to prepare his defence. He added that a key witness expected to testify in court was absent.
Magistrate Jah subsequently remanded the defendant to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown, and the case was adjourned to 26 January 2026 for further proceedings.
