Magistrate George Edwin on Monday August 7 2023, dragged a Military Officer by the name of Hassan K before Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Ross Road Court No 3 for duping him money.
The defendant is charged on a count of obtaining credit by fraud other than false pretenses contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Debtors Act 1869.
On the Particulars of offense, the defendant Hassan K sometimes in November 2022, at Lower Sima town, Rokel, off Freetown Waterloo High Way, obtained credit to the amount of three thousand five hundred Leones from Magistrate George Edwin by means of fraud other than false pretenses.
When the matter was mentioned, the defendant was not in Court, and the complainant lawyer S. J Briama applied for bench warrant which was granted by the Magistrate.
Few minutes’ times, as the matter was about to be adjourned, the defendant shows up and Magistrate Daboh ordered his Prosecutors lead by C. I Francis Macauley to take the defendant to the lock up which they did.
And later the complainant Magistrate George Edwin came in Court as the defendant pleads to the complainant for mercy as he will try to settle him.
The complainant then agreed and Magistrate Daboh releases him and adjourned the matter to August 24 2023.
