As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting national security and public service institutions, Media Tech has donated twenty solar lights to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
The donation was formally presented by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Walid, to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. William Fayia Sellu, during a brief ceremony attended by senior police officials.
Receiving the donation, IGP Sellu expressed profound appreciation to Media Tech for its continued support of the SLP. He recalled that during the recent festive season, the company contributed to enhancing security along the Lumley–Aberdeen Beach area by providing solar lights and surveillance cameras.
According to the IGP, such gestures demonstrate genuine patriotism and a shared commitment to peace, safety, and effective law enforcement. He assured the CEO that the solar lights would be used for their intended purpose to strengthen police operations and improve service delivery.
IGP Sellu further encouraged other Sierra Leoneans and corporate institutions to emulate Media Tech’s example, noting that in countries such as the United States, police institutions often benefit from private sector and community support alongside government funding.
In his remarks, Media Tech CEO Mr. Walid stated that the donation forms part of the company’s broader corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at supporting public sector institutions. He commended the ongoing transformation and reform efforts within the Sierra Leone Police, which motivated the company’s decision to extend further assistance.
“We believe that a well-supported police force contributes significantly to national development and stability,” Mr. Walid said, reaffirming Media Tech’s readiness to continue partnering with institutions that promote peace and security.
The event was witnessed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Sahr Yomba Senesi, and the Principal Staff Officer, Commissioner Ismail Keita, among other senior officers.
The donation marks another milestone in the growing collaboration between the private sector and the Sierra Leone Police in advancing security and community development across the country.
