The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation will host the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge this Saturday, 28 March 2026, at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown. The competition invites young innovators nationwide to showcase robotics projects that tackle social and development challenges.

Organizers have asked registered participants to check their inboxes for confirmation emails and essential event details. The challenge offers exciting incentives, including a LE 30,000 cash prize for the winning team, a fully funded trip to Geneva to represent Sierra Leone at the Global Finals, and a complete robotics kit for winners to continue developing their projects after the event.

The ministry describes the challenge as part of a broader initiative to build a national tech talent pipeline and encourage practical, youth-driven solutions in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and environmental management. By combining competitive rewards with international exposure, organizers aim to motivate teams to create scalable prototypes and attract mentorship or additional support.

During the one-day competition, participants will engage in technical judging panels, live demonstrations, and mentorship clinics. Teams are expected to present functional robotic prototypes along with short pitches explaining their social impact, technical design, and plans for future development. Judges will evaluate entries based on innovation, feasibility, social benefit, and potential for scale.

Beyond the immediate prizes, the challenge offers valuable networking opportunities with local tech companies, educators, and potential sponsors. The ministry emphasized that the fully funded trip to Geneva will connect Sierra Leonean youth with global innovation networks and provide a platform to showcase home-grown solutions internationally.

The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation encouraged late registrants to visit the event page for remaining details and advised all participants to arrive prepared for technical inspections and live demonstrations.

Full event details and registration information are available on the ministry’s official website.
