The Ministry of Basic Senior Secondary Education in Sierra Leone is gearing up for its annual celebration of education in Bo City, Southern Province, as part of President Bio’s commitment to Free Quality Education. Conrad Sackey, the Minister of Basic Senior Secondary Education, emphasized the importance of involving various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in this celebration, highlighting the crucial role education plays in the country.
The event is scheduled to take place from January 22nd to 26th, 2024, with a focus on showcasing the ministry’s performance in advancing education nationwide. Minister Sackey mentioned that a recent joint education sector review was conducted to guide the ministry in achieving its goals, informing their strategic plan for future initiatives.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Learning for Lasting Peace,” emphasizing civic education and Sierra Leone’s cultural history. Minister Sackey outlined the five days of activities, which will include stakeholder engagements, skills development, and collaboration with other organizations. The celebration will culminate in an award ceremony recognizing individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to education at various levels.
