In an attempt to make Bo a city second to none, the government has embarked on major road works in the city. Having paid some percentage of the money to contractors, roads like Gbaima road, Matru -on-the rail, Baimba road, Coronation field road are among the roads first targeted by government.
Earth moving and right -of- way clearance has started on these routes and are in advanced stages. These roads will add to newly completed roads which were commissioned by president Bio when he ascended the throne.
These additional roads when completed are going to give Bo city a real facelift. Some property owners are going to be compensated although there is an obstruction in their businesses. All these roads have been in pretty bad shape and have been causing traffic congestion and accidents. It has even accounted for health risks as during the dry season it becomes very dusty.
After completion it is going to add to the already improved road network in the country. Businesses are going to be improved and agricultural products are going to quickly and easily conveyed to our markets.
This is one means of ensuring food security in our country that imports a huge quantity of our staple food.
Speaking to Engineer Lebbie, regional engineer of SLRA, he revealed that “it is another phase of the road work and more will follow after this one”.
These road works have already created jobs for our youths in Bo district and optimism among residents is high.
