The Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) under the leadership of Martin Momoh Bangura has marked one year since winning the elections. Martin Momoh Bangura, who has his other professional career was unanimously elected as president of the athletics association and has enjoyed the support of the membership. A quiet and unassuming gentle man, Martin Bangura has been able to bring unity, calm and development to the association.
Himself, a former athlete he has ensured the holding of the Boxing Day which is an annual athletics event that spots talents for the country.
During a prayer and thanksgiving session held in his office at Wellington Street, President Martin Bangura encouraged the membership of the association to “come up with suggestions, grievances and disagreements for the good of the association.” One after the other members stood up to mostly praise him for his exemplary leadership fighting hard to hold the association together. The person he contested with and defeated was also in attendance and was full of praise for his leadership. He pledged to continue supporting association under the leadership of Martin Momoh Bangura. After friendly and cordial deliberations the vote of thanks was given by Edward Sawyer, a former renowned sprinter for Sierra Leone.
