In a bid to strengthen women’s football in Sierra Leone, Marampa Mines Limited has supported the Sierra Leone Football Association with $150,000 sponsorship agreement for the 2025/2026 Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League. This historic deal, announced at the SLFA Secretariat in Freetown on Saturday 8th November 2025, marks the largest corporate sponsorship ever directed towards women’s football in Sierra Leone.
When making his statement, Craig Dean, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marampa Mines Limited, expressed pride in partnering with the SLFA under President Kamara’s leadership. He described the sponsorship as a long-term commitment to the growth of women’s football in Sierra Leone, emphasizing that MML’s support extends beyond a single season.
Babadi Kamara, President thanked MML for their confidence and generosity, assuring that the funds will be used as intended. He described the partnership as a symbol of women’s empowerment and national unity, noting that football continues to serve as one of Sierra Leone’s most powerful tools for social cohesion. The President also highlighted the recent achievements of the Sierra Leone U-17 and Senior Women’s National Teams, both winners of the 2025 WAFU Women’s Championship, and stressed that this sponsorship would further strengthen the women’s league and national teams.
Madam Augusta James-Teiima, Minister of Sports praised President Kamara’s visionary leadership, calling the partnership a prime example of how the private sector can play a meaningful role in sports development. “This shows that Marampa Mines is not just here to mine resources, but to help build Sierra Leone,” she said.
The ceremony, which was attended by SLFA Vice President II Prince Saquee, NSA Deputy Executive Director Dr. Abdulrahman Swarray, and Women’s League Chairperson Madam Rachel Pessima, included the presentation of a symbolic $150,000 cheque and the official signing of the sponsorship agreement.
In a gesture of appreciation, President Kamara presented the national team jersey to the MML Chairman, officially naming him an Ambassador for the Sierra Leone Football Association.
Sarah Bangura, Sierra Queens and FC Kallon captain expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Kamara and Marampa Mines for their unwavering support of women’s football in Sierra Leone.
