Honourable Justice Adrian Fisher of the High Court of Sierra Leone discharged accused person Alimamy Kargbo for manslaughter on Thursday 7th September 2023.

Statement of offence informed that Alimamy Kargbo on 10th December 2016 in Freetown, the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone manslaughtered and unlawfully killed Mohamed Sheku.

During the indictment process, Alimamy Kargbo was found guilty of the single count of offence of Manslaughter.

Alimamy Kargbo explained that on the 6th June 2016, he was asked my his boss to look after some of their working tools until the deceased Mohamed Sheku arrived from his scheduled errand. He furthered that when the deceased had arrived he could not find him; noting that he went to buy food at far distance unknown to neither his boss nor his senior worker who was the deceased.

According to Alimamy Kargbo, he said the deceased proceeded to call him on phone in order to know his way about. After making several calls for him to come and continue their chores which it took long time to arrive, the deceased proceeded again to call their boss complaining about Alimamy’s conduct.

On his arrival, Alimamy began to use obscene languages on the deceased and they went into combat. At the peak of their fight, the accused person removed a knife and stabbed the deceased on his left chest. The accused immediately flew to a nearby police station to tender himself in a remorse situation.

The State Counsel Daisy Sawyer Esq told the court that on the 10th June 2016, 23-year-old Mohamed Sheku (deceased) was reported to have died as a result of acute hemorrhage that which was examined by Dr. Simone Owiss Koroma at the Connaught Hospital.

Defence Counsel Ibrahim Bangura Esq pleaded on behalf of the accused person for the Judge to temper him mercy considering the eight years spell he had taken at the Correctional Centre.
