Whilst the opposition bloc in entirety has nothing to show in service provision to their constituents, the Bio Government is having its eye on the ball scoring in areas that were promised in the ruling party’s manifesto.
Whoever says that when you are in opposition you must not work for your people in modest deliverables to give the impression that if by accident, in the farfetched reality of the opposition, that when you take power you can do more? This is the inertia of the opposition we have in this country that I will ignore to stress the positive things that are coming out of this government.
The impressive thing about the deliverables from the government is the inclusivity of all regions. It is reaching out to even supposedly opposition strongholds.
The recent commissioning of hundred schools must be applauded by even those who implacably opposed to anything that is done for the good of this country as long as it is from the SLPP. Thirty five thousand pupils to benefit from opposition stronghold Bombali and Port Loko and ruling party stronghold Bo and Kenema is a testament to the national development aspirations of this government. But the inveterate opposition is wont to saying that nothing good is happening. How can people be so blind to the positive things there are to celebrate on the basis jaundiced and poisoned mindset.
Hopefully not everybody is going to be drawn in to mire of blind loyalty on the basis of their ethnicity, the accursed subject that is often buried or veiled to find unsubstantiated reasons why people make the political choices. So we are forecasting that those little things like the upgrade of the airport in Kaffu Bullom to have spin-off economic and social benefit on another opposition stronghold is going to be a vote puller for the ruing Sierra Leone Peoples Party.
Then the West Africa Power Poll project is gathering pace and it is going to pass through Sierra Leonean towns and villages not discriminating any tribe and politically stereotype settings. It is going to benefit Sierra Leoneans, bringing modernity in dark areas. It is a Paopa government manifesto delivery you cannot underestimate in terms of its sway on even some opposition hardliners.
Those refusing to judge the government on the steady gains in sync with its manifesto commitments but are stressing economic hardship that could be assessed in the light of the wickedness of those Sierra Leonean promoting profiteering to distort the market place in the assumption that such antics are going to be catalytic for the political comeback of spoilers have to find something good to do.
This government must in addition to infrastructural development tie the loose ends to policy actions as in rice tax waivers which effect is not felt because the distribution side of it is weak. The idea of creating government stores in the provinces to stock these goods can mitigate the transportation cost involved justification for dealers to hike prices in deliberate way of making the government look ugly. There is also progress in the revamping of the refinery so that we are now going to be getting crude oils at cheap rate compared to the refined form. And you can be assured that fuel pump price will be lowered to mitigate cost of transportation in thwarting the agenda of economic saboteur.
