Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon has sentenced Ibrahim Kojo Sesay to 12 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, the incident occurred on Monday, 30th June 2025, at Off Pratt Street, New Englandville, Freetown. The accused stole one bag of flour valued at Nine Hundred Leones (Le900), the property of Ibrahim Bah.

During the court proceedings, the charge was read and clearly explained to Sesay, who immediately pleaded guilty.

In a plea for leniency, Sesay asked the court to temper justice with mercy.

However, Magistrate Kallon, noting the seriousness of the offence, swiftly delivered her judgment, sentencing the accused to one year in prison.

“Theft, regardless of the value of the stolen item, is a serious offence that erodes public trust and undermines community stability,” she stated.

The sentence underscores the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining public order, sending a clear message that petty theft will not be tolerated.
