Ahmed Sallieu has been sentenced to 36 months’ imprisonment by Magistrate Mamakoh Kallon at the Pademba Road Court No. 3, Freetown, on one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the indictment, the convict on Sunday, 4 January 2026, at Howe Street, Freetown, fraudulently converted to his own use and benefit certain properties entrusted to him by Mariama Kabba for safekeeping.
The properties included ten (10) packets of gowns, each valued at Le 750.00, totaling Le 6,750.00; twenty (20) packets of blouses and trousers; and four (4) packets of ordinary trousers.
The total value of the properties was Le 14,350.00.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
In delivering her ruling, Magistrate Kallon imposed a 36-month custodial sentence, with an option for the convict to refund the properties or their monetary value before the close of court proceedings. The magistrate ruled that failure to refund would result in the convict serving the full prison term.
