Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown has remanded one Bokarie Lavey at the Male Correctional Centre following his latest court appearance over allegations of fraudulent conversion.

The accused appeared before the court to answer a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, the police alleged that on 23 January 2026, at No. 9 Barthus Street, Freetown, the accused fraudulently converted to his own use a tricycle bearing registration number AVG 213, valued at Le80,000. The tricycle was reportedly entrusted to him for safekeeping by the complainant, Elijah Pews.

Police further alleged that instead of holding the tricycle in trust as agreed, the accused dishonestly appropriated the property, thereby depriving the complainant of its lawful use and benefit.

During the hearing, Prosecutor Inspector T. Macfoy led the prosecution’s case and tendered the voluntary caution statements of both the complainant and the accused in support of the charge.

After listening to the prosecution’s submissions and examining the documents presented, Magistrate Kekura refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence.

The accused was consequently remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, and the matter was adjourned to 16 February 2026 for ruling.
