Didi Maxwell made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown on a three-count charge of unlawful possession of prohibited drugs and dealing in prohibited drugs without lawful authority, contrary to Sections 8(a) and 7(c) of the National Drug Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008).

According to the particulars of the offence, Maxwell, on Thursday, 25th September 2025, at No. 58 Robert Street, Bo, was found in possession of 148 wraps and one sachet of kush without lawful authority. On the same date and at the same location, he was also found in possession of half a compressed parcel of cannabis sativa and was allegedly dealing in prohibited drugs without lawful authority.

When the charges were read to him, no plea was taken.

State Prosecutor A.B.N. Taylor Kamara informed the court that the prosecution had complied with Section 112(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965, noting that all relevant documents, including the charge sheet and witness statements, had been duly served on the defence.

In response, the defence counsel sought a short adjournment to enable him to apply for bail on behalf of the accused.

However, Magistrate Jah ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to 27th October 2025 for further hearing.
