Man Allegedly Transforms Himself Into Chimpazee At Marampa Village

Ishmeal Mansaray a native of Magbasie village allegedly transformed himself into a “Baboon’’ (Chimpanzee) and murdered a one year nine month old child.

The Sierra Leone Police informed the press about such incident during their weekly press briefing held on Tuesday 24th January 2023 at its headquarters in Freetown.

Brima Kamara, Assistant Commissioner of Police who doubled as the spokesperson of the Sierra Leone Police said on Wednesday 4th January 2023, the mother of the one year nine month old child Mamusu Kamara revealed that one Ishmael Mansaray assaulted her child and murdered the child in the process of being transformed into a chimpanzee.

The mysterious incident took place at Marampa village, Makama Chiefdom, Port Loko District.

 ACP Kamara furthered that the matter is actively under investigation.

In another update, Assistant Commissioner of Police disclosed that on Sunday 22nd January 2023 about 11:00 hours, a team of Police officers attached at the Madauraya Checkpoint in Kambia arrested  a vehicle with unlawful possession of four hundred and twenty (420) Government’s Free Quality Education textbooks.

The vehicle registration number is RC 76090. These textbooks contained English Language for JSS3, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Language Arts for SS3. “There are 206 English Language reading materials for JSS3, 52 Mathematics textbooks, 113 Integrated Science materials and 20 Language Arts for SSS3 textbooks as well. All sum up to four hundred and twenty textbooks’’, Mr. Kamara said. He affirmed that the suspect is under custody with the exhibits.

Aiah Edward Samadia, Regional Commander Freetown East said as of now the entire environment remained relatively calm and quiet and people had been busy with their normal chores.

 He furthered that except on Friday 13th January 2023, Kissy Police Station responded to a destressed call where youths stormed 56 City Road in Wellington Freetown. “It is alleged that there where huge number of people at the said address where youths want to storm and burn down the building of Q-Net otherwise a Quest for Internet scammers for fraudulently extorting money from two hundred people in the bid of traveling abroad’’, Mr. Samadia stated.

He said the police made a quick respond in order to calm down the incident; adding that the police realized that some of the people were brainwashed and connived with Q- Net workers to create commotion  against the police.

Commander Samadia said some of the people were arrested and taken to the Kissy Police Station for questioning and six members of Q-Net were being charged to court.

Victor Manfred Williams, Regional Commander Freetown West mentioned that a fatal accident took place at Majay Town, Goderich where a concrete-mixer vehicle with registration number ATM-560 under the control of Abu Sandi crushed a makeshift building. The vehicle fatally killed one young man and injured two men. The deceased person was taken to the Connaught Hospital for postmortem examination He said the incident caused spider-web traffic within the said premise.

Commander Williams disclosed that a woman was arrested by the commanding officer attached at mile 13 checkpoint with huge quantity of Electricity Distribution Service Agency (EDSA). The woman allegedly said the cables were in the possession of one Suliaman Swarray.

Mr. Williams noted that the matter has been under investigation.

Joshua Fritz lnun Moosa, member of the Criminal Investigation Department Operations said on the Friday 20th January 2023, a combined team of Sierra Leone Police, Office of National Security (ONS), and Financial Intelligent Unit (FIU) arrested one Tita Alfred, a German national at the Lungi International Airport alleging that the latter was found in possession of eight two thousand New Leones and quantities of Liberian currency.

Joshua Moosa said the man had attempted to smuggle the money out of the country when he was picked up by the security at the Lungi International Airport during an enquiry he made to the counter. In the course of investigations, Tita Alfred stated that the money was found in his possession and he came to Sierra Leone as a tourist. The matter has been booked for investigation.

When informing the press on another update, Mr. Moosa furthered that on Tuesday 24th January 2023, Sergeant A61 Brima Vandy and team attached at the Makamaya checkpoint along the Guinea and Sierra Leone Highway arrested one Saffie Alie, Aminata Kanu of Deep-eye Water, Adama Kamara with quantity of drugs suspected to be Free-Health Care drugs.

 “There were 1,35 boxes of assonate tablets, 168 packets of ultramate tablets, 30 boxes of assonate injection, 250 surgical surgeons and 180 black bladed zincs,’’  Fritzlnun Moosa said.

Edna Silver, Head of Community Relations said community sensitization had been effective across the western area provinces. She noted that her office would continue to monitor all divisions in their sensitization drive as the country plans to stage another general election.

“We are getting positive feedbacks from the provinces especially in the south-eastern provinces and both the east and north-west regions,’’ Madam Silver said.

She explained that one of the strategies of the Community Relation has to deal with community engagement in terms of settling dispute and mediate among different communities in the country particularly with support from local partners and various divisions.
